An influencer is coming to Ariana Grande‘s defense amid her flight issues that led to cancelling her appearance at the Sao Paulo premiere of Wicked: For Good.

Content creator Connor Gowland, known for his fitness and lifestyle videos, was sitting next to Ariana on that ill-fated flight from New York to Sao Paulo.

Ariana revealed in an Instagram post that everyone on the flight was forced to deplane because of a safety issue and the flight was rescheduled for 11am on Tuesday morning, which would have forced her to miss the premiere. No other flight options were available to get her to Brazil in time for the event, including private ones.

Connor talked about the flight delays in a TikTok video and he was also posting about the delays on his Instagram Stories before Ariana ever made the statement, confirming his story.

Ariana Grande was right next to me on this flight yesterday before it got canceled. I was going to keep it low-key, but once seeing people coming after her, saying she was lying about missing her flight to Sao Paulo… that’s not true. Because she was with me right here and we both got texts at the same time about our flight being delayed multiple hours and then finding out it wasn’t going to happen until today at 11am,” Connor said.

He added, “I don’t have any proof because I didn’t take a picture. I was trying to be chill. But I did tell her I would make her a friendship bracelet. Because when we got off the plane, she was like, ‘I hope we sit next to each other!’ So if anyone knows how to get these friendship bracelets to her, let me know.”

Ariana released a second statement on Tuesday, asking fans to stop wishing danger on her because of what happened.
