A JERSEY artist is due to open her debut solo exhibition this week.
Hazel Wynn’s gallery opens to the public on Friday for a preview evening and drinks reception from 5pm until 8pm, and the exhibition itself opens officially the following day.
Entitled The Overview Effect, the exhibition is described as a psychological shift in awareness felt by astronauts when they view earth from space and experience a sense of interconnectedness, when seeing our planet as such a small sphere in the universe.
Ms Wynn trained at Chelsea College of Art in London where she specialised in textile design and has come from selling hand-painted textile designs in New York to focusing on fine art back in Jersey.
The exhibition is going to be open for viewing at Private & Public gallery, an art dealership based in Sommerville House on Phillips Street in St Helier.
Gallery director Chris Clifford said: “The feeling of connectivity is something that Hazel been striving to achieve through her art for many years. The awe she experiences while painting emerges when she works intuitively and embraces a sense of play.”
The Overview Effect will be open to the public from 12pm to 6pm on weekdays and 10am on 3pm on Saturdays until 28 November.
