OTTAWA—Canada saw another month of unexpectedly strong hiring in October, pulling the jobless rate down for the first time in four months and offering an early hint the struggling economy is steadying.
Employers in the country added 66,600 jobs last month, which alongside an only modest expansion in Canada’s population and labor force meant the unemployment rate declined to 6.9%, Statistics Canada said Friday.
