When Joanne Cullen decided to test a hunch, she invented a doctor’s name on the spot. She texted Nicola Hutton – a Sydenham woman who had spent months claiming she was donating a kidney to Joanne’s gravely ill husband Billy – asking if she’d spoken to Dr Yim and Nurse Jenny, two names she had completely made up to test her.
Within minutes, Hutton (also known as Nicola Carlisle) replied: “Yes.”
