Homework – the mere mention of the word is guaranteed to strike fear into the hearts of parents and children up and down the country. For the grown-ups of my generation, the word usually triggers a collective trauma intricately interwoven with the all too familiar opening chords of RTÉ’s Glenroe.
The soap, which aired on a Sunday night, often coincided with the horrifying realisation that you had not done your homework and were now all out of time.
