The Princess tends not to take part in stately occasions (who would have the time, what with all her studies?) and when she’s not in Britain, can usually be found living with her parents at the family home, Villa Schonenberg. She has, however, joined the royal family for the inauguration of her uncle, King Philippe, and was a flower girl at the wedding of her brother, Prince Amedo, and his wife, Elisabetta Rosboch von Wolkenstein, back in 2014. In her personal life, she goes by ‘Laetitia de Belgique’, which may well be how her friends at St. Andrews know her.

Princess Laetitia and Lady Louise Windsor are only the latest royals to have enrolled at the Scottish university. Also on the list of alumnae? James Ogilvy, the son of Princess Alexandra of Kent; Archibald Campbell, 1st Marquess of Argyll; Prince Musa, son of HRH Princess Aishah of Brunei; and, a recent enrollee, Countess Luana of Orange-Nassau. The Countess, who is the daughter of Princess Mabel and the late Prince Friso of the Netherlands, grew up in Kew and tends to keep a low profile, though she is occasionally seen attending events like the Dutch Grand Prix with her fellow royals.
The future king and queen of Britain first locked eyes during their first year at St Salvator’s Hall, and now it seems the next generation of European royals are also forging the networks that will shape the continent in the years to come.
