Carla Ward has defended the Irish players who chose not to wear the poppy during recent club duties.
Katie McCabe, Caitlin Hayes, Abbie Larkin and Hayley Nolan chose not to do so but Ireland captain McCabe, like James McClean before her, was on the receiving end of some virulent abuse on social media.
