Donegal teen Sam Gorman has been confirmed as the very first winner of the newly introduced Sligo Pallets Forest Rally Championship Junior 1000 Challenge Trophy.
In a remarkable season, the 18-year-old from Drumardagh, Letterkenny, claimed the only 100% finish record across the six rounds of the J1000 series.
Talented Sam has just recently taken up a new apprenticeship in Tralee, Co Kerry, to be a wind turbine technician and his family is more than proud of him.

The J1000 Challenge Trophy was created for the highest placed competitor in the Class 21 points table, driving a non-Volkswagen Group car and not finishing in the top three overall.
The Craig Breen Foundation is supporting a prize fund for the winners.
Sam, and the other winners, will be recognised at this weekend’s Championship Prizegiving in the Sligo Park Hotel.
