“I was working in As One, the coffee shop, when I was playing for the Bohs first team, in my first year there,” Paddy Kirk recalls. “Kenny Cunningham does a lot of the commentary for Premier Sports, and had a studio around the corner. He came in and I was serving him that morning, which was the day of the Dublin derby [Bohemians vs. Shamrock Rovers].
“I was asking him if he was covering the game later, and he was. We chatted a little about the match, but I never brought up that I’d be playing in it. I was thinking, later, ‘This is the biggest game in Irish football and here I am, on match-day, serving Kenny flat whites.’”
