It is the busiest time of the year for the postal services, with Christmas shopping beginning to pick up and the Black Friday shopping event kicking off.
An Post have responded to complaints of delays in postal delivery in the Dublin 15 area. They said that there are delays due to higher than usual volumes of post moving through the system.
They added that operational constraints are also contributing to longer processing times. They “are doing everything possible” to keep things moving.
They asked that customers keep tracking their parcels and packages via the An Post app. This where the most up to date information can be found an any particular delivery.
“Due to high volumes and operational constraints, it is taking longer than usual to process items for delivery in the Dublin 15 area. We are doing everything possible to get all mail out on delivery as quickly as possible,” they told Dublin Live.
“Customers are advised to continue to track items on the An Post App which will gives the most up-to-date information and notification of imminent delivery. An Post apologises for any inconvenience.”

Sinn Féin Councillor Angela Donnelly took to social media to ask her constituents if they had experienced any delays. One replied: “Spoke to my postman yesterday he said they are up to their eyes with post and deliveries.”
Another reminded people to have patience: “Please remember if you are going to the sorting office to be kind to staff. They are trying their best, they are understaffed and overworked. The situation is frustrating for them too. And it is their busiest time of year.”
An Post recently warned the Irish public to be aware of scams, which see an uptick at this busy time. Scammers pretending to be An Post typically involve fake texts or emails asking for payment for customs charges, or requests for personal information like bank details or one-time passcodes
Posting to social media, An Post asked customers to “beware of scam links being sent in the lead up to Black Friday and Christmas” They say that scammers will send links that make it look like you have been brought to the legitimate An Post website, but it will be a front to take your money and valuable data.
An Post also says they will never send a direct link for a customs charge. “The link will make it appear like you’re on our An Post website but we will never send you a direct link to pay custom charges. We will also never charge you to have your parcel redelivered,” they said.
