The Tunnel, the British-French drama that premiered on Sky in 2013, has (partially) found a new streaming home in the UK. The first season out of three has been recently been added to Prime Video for subscribers to watch.

The show follows two detectives who team up to solve a particularly grim murder case, as a body in the Channel Tunnel is found, exactly halfway between the two countries.

Things start to unravel as the serial killer, known as the ‘Truth Terrorist’, attempts further killings with the intention of pointing out inequality in society.

The cast includes Game of Thrones’ Stephen Dillane, 127 Hours’ Clémence Poésy, Merlin’s Angel Coulby, Da Vinci’s Demons’ Tom Bateman, MaXXXine’s Mia Goth, It’s a Sin’s Keeley Hawes, and Slow Horses’ Jack Lowden, to name just a few.

Seasons 2 and 3, subtitled Sabotage and Vengeance, respectively, are currently available to buy through Prime Video. All three seasons are also available to stream via NOW.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the show’s first season has an 83% positive score from critics, with Digital Spy calling it “gripping stuff” and stating that “Nordic Noir fanatics who adored The Bridge should find plenty to enjoy”.

Fans gave the overall show an average score of 7.9 out of 10 from over 12,000 user scores over on IMDb.

One review called the show “addictive” with “phenomenal” and “very real performances” from the two leads.

“Totally absorbing, one of those rare moments when you think I just can’t put this down,” another fan said, adding: “With twists and turns and a red herring or three it evolves to a strange end, no spoilers, if you like intrigue, carefully thought out plots with small amounts of sex and violence you will love it.”

“There is plenty going on in this series and the tension/atmosphere is terrific. Each episode left me wanting more,” a third viewer said.

The show is a remake of the Danish-Swedish series The Bridge, with the majority of user reviews stating that The Tunnel holds it own against the original.

The Tunnel season 1 can be streamed with a Prime Video subscription, while all three seasons can be streamed via NOW.
