Revenue officers have seized illegal drugs worth an estimated €2,307,000 at Dublin Airport following two operations carried out last week.

On Thursday, November 20, Revenue officers searched a package during routine profiling and discovered 0.8kg of crystal methamphetamine concealed inside boxes of soup labelled “Food”.

The drugs, valued at €48,000, had been sent from Spain and were destined for an address in Dublin.

In a separate operation on Sunday, November 23, Revenue drug detector dog Maggie gave an indication that led to the discovery of 112.95kg of herbal cannabis.

The cannabis, valued at €2,259,000, was vacuum-packed and hidden inside metal containers labelled “Electric Box”. It had originated in Thailand and was destined for an address in Northern Ireland.

Investigations are ongoing.
