A large mirror with a white frame sits in the middle of their open-concept kitchen, and Grace has a good reason as to why it’s situated there.

“I bought the mirror [and it ended up being] too big. And for feng shui right, cannot anyhow put [a mirror in the home], so I found this spot which also looks quite nice,” she explains.

Indeed, feng shui has played a big part in their home buying process and even their home reno.

“Actually, we searched for this house for nine months,” she reveals. The couple also eliminated “a lot” of other apartments they viewed because they didn’t pass the feng shui test.

“When we found the house we wanted, I asked my feng shui master about it. Then after we moved in, she did another prayer and looked at the layout to see where we should have different things.”

Even the fixtures in her home are influenced by feng shui. Many fixtures have round edges, which not only make them baby-safe, but also aligns with feng shui beliefs. Grace shares that having sharp edges of buildings pointed towards your house is not good for feng shui.

Although her baby has her own room, Grace reveals that little Kiyo currently sleeps in the master bedroom with her and her husband at night. They purchased a new bed to place next to their own, atop a platform with storage underneath. While Kiyo still sleeps with them, they have to move her bed to access the extra storage.

“I wanted her to just sleep in her room, but after I gave birth I felt she should just sleep with us at night,” she adds.

Kiyo’s room houses Grace’s nursing chair and a baby cot, with the walls adorned with colourful motifs in the shape of tiny stars, flowers, and leaves.

For Grace, juggling between being a new mum and a freelance fashion stylist is simply a matter of prioritising the things that mean most to her.

She says: “You don’t really juggle lah. Sometimes, as much as you want it, there’s no balance. I will try to push away stuff that isn’t as much of a priority. [For things] that I don’t necessarily need to be there, I will try to change it around and get an assistant on set, or when it comes to content creation, I will do a little more at home. You really want to save as much time as you can to give to your child. That’s what I do, so I try my best to cut down on more things.”
