The planning system is proving to be an obstacle to the expansion of KFC, as it aims to open 25 more restaurants in Ireland as part of a €105m investment plan over the next five years.

Rob Swain, the chain’s general manager in Ireland and the UK, said the difficulty with planning and licensing has been experienced particularly in Dublin, where KFC will open a flagship store on Grafton Street on December 15.
