A motorcyclist aged in his 30s has been killed following a single-vehicle road traffic collision on a busy Wexford road early this morning.
The incident took place at approximately 6.20 a.m. on the R738 at Growtown Upper, Barntown, Co Wexford.
The National Ambulance Service and Gardaí rushed to the busy road, which links Taghmon with the notorious Larkin’s Cross, but sadly their efforts were to prove in vain as the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner has been notified.
The road was sealed off to traffic pending a full technical examination of the scene by garda forensic collision investigators. It is expected to remain closed for some time and local diversions are in place.
Wexford Gardaí have urged motorists to “avoid the location if possible and use alternative routes” and to “allow extra time for your journey and drive with caution”.
