These are busy times for Paul Anka.
The legendary vocalist stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday night to sing “My Way,” connected to the new HBO Max original documentary Paul Anka: His Way, which debuted this week on HBO.
Here’s the performance of the song, which was a classic recording of Frank Sinatra‘s based on Anka’s lyrical adaptation of the original French song written by Jacques Revaux, Gilles Thibaut, and Claude François first recorded in 1967:
Anka also sat down for a chat:
Paul Anka: His Way was directed and produced by Emmy®-winning filmmaker John Maggio (HBO’s “Mr. Saturday Night”), and premiered on HBO on Dec. 1. It’s currently available to stream via HBO Max.

Some more album context, per a news release:
Notably, two tracks on the album were co-written with musical icons in their own rights: Michael Jackson (“Love Never Felt So Good”), and Jack White (“Freedom – Prefer the Fade”). Anka, who famously wrote hits for iconic artists including Frank Sinatra, Connie Francis and Buddy Holly continues to collaborate and create with artists across the spectrum of genres from pop, to rock to hip hop.
INSPIRATIONS OF LIFE AND LOVE was recorded mainly in Anka’s home studio in California, with symphony orchestra accompaniment recorded in Budapest.
A second pre-release song, a re-recording of “Let Me Try Again,” is also available. It was first released by Sinatra in 1973 before Anka recorded his version for 1989’s Somebody Loves You album:
Another recording on the album, “Love Never Felt So Good” was originally released as a posthumous Michael Jackson single in 2014, a reworking of a demo Jackson and Anka had first put together decades earlier. It peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Jackson the first artist in history to have a top 10 single on the US Billboard Hot 100 in five different decades.
The track listing:
1. Just Can’t Wait
2. Anytime
3. Boulevard
4. It Was a Very Good Year
5. Let Me Try Again
6. All of a Sudden (My Heart Sings)
7. Love Never Felt So Good
8. Freedom – Prefer the Fade
9. I Believe
10. The Last Time I Saw You
11. That’s Life
