Only 75,000 households in Ireland, out of a total of 1.9 million, can be classified as truly “wealthy”, according to a new estimate by Davy.

The stockbroking firm has defined “wealthy” as having surplus assets worth comfortably in excess of €1m, excluding property and pensions.
