Chris Pratt is taking a red pen to his own love story in order to make a correction.

Previously, a source had told PEOPLE in 2018 that the Jurassic World franchise actor, 46, met his second wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger with the help of her mother, Maria Shriver, 70.

During an appearance on Fox & Friends on Tuesday, Dec. 2, Pratt cleared the air about this matchmaking narrative. During the interview at Woodland Hills Country Club in Los Angeles, Pratt told co-host Steve Doocy that he actually met the New York Times best-selling author, 35, during a church service.

Initially, Doocy, 69, had prompted the father of four to share more about his mother-in-law playing a part in their introduction. However, Pratt responded by saying that version of the story was “actually not true.”

“I was at a church in Hollywood, and I looked over, and I saw her,” he explained. “And I know you’re not supposed to be, like, checking out girls at church, but I’m only human. And I thought, ‘Wow, she’s really cute.’ ”

Pratt also shared that he was picking up his eldest son, who he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris, from a church program that day.

Jack, now 13, met Schwarzenegger at the same time as his dad. Little did he know, she would become his step-mom within a year. In June of 2019, Pratt and Schwarzenegger wed in Montecito, California, during an intimate ceremony less than a year after he finalized his divorce with Faris, 49.

“The rest is history,” Pratt said.

The spiritual setting is fitting for the Guardians of the Galaxy actor, who has been open about his religious journey while Jack battled health issues early in his life. Faris and Pratt were told by a pediatric neurosurgeon that Jack had some severe brain bleeding, risking developmental ability in the future.

Pratt shared that his teenager is “doing so great now” but his premature birth led to a “touch and go” feeling. “When you’re in those kind of moments in your life, there’s a lot of prayer and contemplation,” he added. “The tectonic plates of my spiritual life really shifted beneath me, and I emerged much closer to God than I was before.”

Pratt shares three younger children with Schwarzenegger, daughters Lyla, 5, and Eloise, 3, and son Ford, who just turned 1.
