Relief for central government pensioners – 8th Pay Commission update: Govt rejects DA merger, confirms pension reform review

The basic pay is the minimum salary that a central government employee at different levels gets as per the pay matrix defined in the 7th Pay Commission. All allowances, such as DA and House Rent Allowance, are calculated on the basis of the basic salary. The minimum basic pay in the 7th Pay Commission is Rs 18,000 (of a Level 1 employee), and the maximum is Rs 250,000 (of Level 18 employee).
