Family time is as good as it gets.
Jack Nicholson was all smiles as he appeared in a rare picture with his kids Lorraine Nicholson, 35, and Ray Nicholson, 33, while they spent time together last month.
In the snap shared to Lorraine’s Instagram Dec. 4, the 88-year-old leaned in to pose with his daughter, who had her arms wrapped around him and Ray, putting their likeness on display while relaxing at home.
And it’s not the only family time the Nicholson brood has gotten in as of late. Other pics from the roundup—aptly captioned, “a november to remember”—featured Lorraine and boyfriend Jason Reitman attending the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governors Awards on Nov. 16, as well as time together with Jack’s eldest child Jennifer Nicholson, 62.
While the three-time Oscar winner—also dad to Caleb Goddard, 55, Honey Hollman, 43, and Tessa Gourin, 31—has mostly kept out of the spotlight in recent years, save for a few courtside outings at Los Angeles Lakers games, he made a rare public appearance during Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special in February.

During the live broadcast, Jack introduced SNL alum Adam Sandler, who performed a song about the show’s history after shouting out the legendary actor. “Let’s hear it for Jack, baby!” Adam said. “Jack baby, out tonight!”
In January, the Shining actor appeared in another photo on Lorraine’s Instagram, leaning in for a hug with his daughter at home. And their sweet bond has been an important source of inspiration for the Soul Surfer actress throughout her career.

“He’s my mentor,” Lorraine told Us Weekly in 2011. “I’m going into the family business because we’re so close and he’s such an inspiration. I admire him so much.”
And the family business has been built upon some generational advice, too.
“My grandma always told my father, ‘Don’t toot your own horn,’” Lorraine continued, “which in Nicholson speak means, ‘Be modest and let your work speak for yourself.’ That’s sort of what I applied to not only my acting work, but my everyday work.”
