Ryan Tubridy has been spotted back in Ireland ahead of his upcoming wedding to Dr Clare Kambamettu.

The pair got engaged earlier this year, with rumours circulating that the wedding is due to take place this weekend in Clifden, Co. Galway. Since leaving RTÉ, Ryan has been living in London and does a weekly show on Virgin Radio. However, from Monday, someone else is covering his slot – DJ Emma B. “Ryan has been telling colleagues he’s getting married this weekend,” a Virgin Radio UK source told the Irish Independent.

The pair were also spotted in Clifden, Co Galway, where Ryan’s cousins Brian and Ronan Hughes run the well-known Abbeyglen Castle Hotel. Earlier this morning, Ryan shared an Instagram story of him taking a walk along a pier and captioned the post: “The sun is on its way.”

Ryan announced his engagement to Dr Clare earlier this year after O’Dálaigh Jewellers in Clifden revealed on social media that he purchased a ring from them for a “very special lady”. The pair got engaged along the Atlantic coastline, with the couple celebrating afterwards in a nearby hotel with well-wishers.

The pair have been quietly dating since 2023, first stepping into the public eye as a couple when Clare accompanied the broadcaster to the Irish Post Awards in London. Clare won the Rose of Tralee in 2010, and had appeared on Ryan’s RTÉ Radio One show in March 2023 where she discussed the benefits of manifestation.

Dr Kambamettu, who is a clinical psychologist and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and History along with a Higher Diploma from NUI Galway (now the University of Galway), later completed a Master’s in Science in Mental Health.

When breaking the news about his engagement earlier this year, Ryan told his listeners on Q102: “I have a little bit of news that I was kind of keeping a little bit to myself – to ourselves – [because] even though I’m a public person doing the job I do, I also have quite a lot of privacy that I like to keep to myself.

“However, the cat has been removed from the bag for a number of reasons and I’m very, very, very happy to confirm that I did indeed get engaged to my partner Clare on Thursday evening in the West of Ireland,” he said on his radio programme at the time.

“It is a very beautiful feeling. We were surrounded by gorgeous people who we didn’t know, strangers in the hotel, and people who were working around the place. I got a beautiful ring organised and the weather was gorgeous.

“It was just an accumulation of a lot of lovely things happening, and I just decided ‘Now is the time, here we go’. It’s a very exciting time to be alive, I’m a very, very lucky man. I think it’s one of those beautiful moments where the world feels lighter and there’s a whole new adventure ahead.

“Lucky man, beautiful day, and the future is bright.”
