Liverpool’s FA Cup campaign will start against Barnsley after the draw for the third round took place on Monday evening.
Liverpool have been allocated as the home team for the cup tie, which will take place in January.
The Reds will join the rest of the Premier League in entering the competition at the third round, aiming to go further than last season’s fourth-round finish.
When will Liverpool vs. Barnsley take place?

The FA Cup third round fixtures will be played over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, January 10 and 11.
It will be Liverpool’s fourth game of 2026, following on from the trip to Arsenal in the Premier League on Thursday, January 8.
For that reason, it is likely that the Reds’ fixture will be scheduled for a Sunday time slot.
It will be a busy start to the year for Liverpool, who face Leeds, Fulham and Arsenal in the first eight days of the month.
Last season, Slot’s men were knocked out in the fourth round in a narrow defeat at Plymouth.
Will Arne Slot be in charge by then?

Slot currently has the backing of Liverpool’s hierarchy, but the Times‘ Paul Joyce stated that “patience will not be limitless” and that “results will ultimately dictate Slot’s future.”
The report came after Mo Salah‘s bombshell comments that have shone a brighter spotlight on the issues at Anfield, which has seen Liverpool win only 11 of their last 22 games.
Any decision over Slot’s future will be unrelated to Salah’s comments, but the pressure to oversee the turnaround, in performances and results, remains.
