The Norths Department of Agriculture is responding to a new suspected case of Bluetongue detected on a farm near Greyabbey in County Down.
It follows more than 40 confirmed cases found in the Bangor area last week.
The virus, spread mainly by midges, affects livestock including cattle, sheep, goats and deer, but poses no risk to food safety, according to Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer David Kyle.
He says surveillance is being stepped up, with increased testing now under way to track and contain any further spread:
