A woman has died following a collision involving a car in Myshall village, Co Carlow.
Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision, involving a car and a pedestrian, shortly before 5.30pm this evening.
The woman, who was a pedestrian and aged in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí have said that the local coroner has been notified and the woman’s body has been taken to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
No other injuries were reported, gardaí said.
The scene remains sealed off pending technical examination that will be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
They particularly want to speak to any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), and were travelling in the area between 5pm and 5.30pm this evening.
