Even if yours is a household that withstands the lure of chocolate hazelnut spread for 11 and a half months of the year, giving in only on birthdays and Shrove Tuesday, chances are you might pick up a jar to have in the cupboard for lazy breakfasts over the festive season.
Nutella may be the brand leader, but there are many alternatives at a host of different price points. If it’s an adult treat, it’s worth going for one with a higher percentage of hazelnuts and lower sugar, but if it’s just for the kids and you feel able to turn a blind eye to palm oil, then just pick up whichever one you happen to spot in your local supermarket, as the cheaper ones we tested are much of a muchness.
