Keith Andrew achieved an important milestone in his career over the weekend, with the Irishman securing his first win as a manager on Saturday afternoon.

There had been plenty of questions of asked about his appointment as Brentford manager, with quite a few pundits tipping them for relegation after the loss of Thomas Frank and some key playing personnel over the summer. While it remains to be seen how well they fare this season, the 1-0 win over Aston Villa was an excellent building block for the side.

Ireland internationals Caoimhín Kelleher and Nathan Collins both performed brilliantly, while Keith Andrews also would have been thrilled to see big money signing Dango Ouattara net the winner.

Brentford will now be hoping to build on that momentum over the coming weeks.

Henry Thinks Keith Andrews Brentford Tactic Will Cause Problems

With this being Keith Andrews’ first managerial role, it remains to be seen what sort of tactical approach he will employ in his career.

We were given some clues in recent weeks, with his decision to play two strikers something that is an increasing rarity in the modern game.

Speaking on Monday Night Football, Thierry Henry said that Andrews’ decision to play two up top is likely to cause some big problems for opposition teams in the Premier League.

The way they went about it, Brentford started really well and then they had to defend for their lives.

I like the way that sometimes, even when you want you want to be cute and it’s very important for the coach to get that first win, the way they went about it.

It was a long ball from the keeper to Dango Ouattara the striker. I mention it to Jamie all the time, defenders are not used to dealing with two strikers.

When they see two strikers they don’t know what to do. I’m very happy for [Andrews].

Striker Dango Ouattara signed for Brentford for a club record fee of £45million earlier this month, starting up front alongside Thiago for the meeting with Aston Villa. The pair would link brilliantly for the game’s winning goal.

Keith Andrews will also be hoping to have Yoanne Wissa available soon, with the forward returning to training last week after previously attempting to push through a move to Newcastle.

Those are certainly good options to have, with the ability to score goals the most scarce commodity in the Premier League.

Andrews clearly feels that a bit of extra firepower in the final third will be an important asset for Brentford over the coming weeks and months.
