Almost €2.3m in funding has been announced for Cork city’s first dedicated indoor padel hub which opens tomorrow.

Irish investment firm Quintas Capital has said that it will be investing €2.27m into The Hive, the new indoor sports and wellness facility which is located on Monahan Road near the Marina.

The investment, which formally closed in September, marks the final deployment from the 2024 Employment Investment Incentive Scheme (EIIS) fund, in which Quintas Capital invested just under €8m.

Kevin Canning, Quintas Capital chief executive officer, said the organisation believes The Hive is more than a venue. “It’s a long-term investment in Cork’s community and lifestyle,” he said.

“Our €2.27m injection reflects our confidence in the management team’s vision and in the growth potential of padel and wellness-led leisure in Cork and beyond,”

said Mr Canning.

Rory Dennis of The Hive said the goal of the facility “has always been to bring something unique to Cork — a place where people can move, connect, and belong”.

“With this backing from Quintas Capital, we’re now confident we can deliver a facility that sets a new standard for sport, wellness and social life in the city,” said Mr Dennis.

The Hive project saw a 19,000sq/ft warehouse transformed into a state-of-the-art five-court indoor padel club — which also features premium amenities such as wellness spaces, recovery rooms, social areas, and a café and retail space.

Quintas Capital has also confirmed that its 2025 EIIS Fund is on track to surpass €12m, and that it will close to new investor applications once it reaches a total of €15m.
