After a difficult start to life in Italy, hopes are high that Evan Ferguson has turned a corner at Roma over the last couple of weeks.

The Irishman had struggled for form and fitness after moving to the Italian capital, leading to some doubts about his prospects under manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

However, things have improved recently. After Ferguson scored his first goal against Cremonese, he would bag a brace against Celtic last week before playing the full 90 minutes for the first time for the club in the win over Como on Monday. He was also named man-of-the-match in that game.

Legendary Italian Impressed By Evan Ferguson’s Roma Resurgence

Evan Ferguson will have another chance to impress when Roma face Juventus in a big Serie A clash this weekend, with the Irishman impressing many in Italy with his recent displays.

That includes Italian coaching legend Fabio Capello, who suggested to Gazzetta that the striker had turned a corner in recent times.

Ferguson is starting to move better; some positive signs can be seen.

It will be interesting [against Juventus] to see whether Gian Piero Gasperini will rely on Paulo Dybala’s quality or give up the Argentine to prioritise intensity, tempo and pressing.

Roma currently sit in fourth place in the Serie A table, just three points behind league leaders Inter. A win over Juve on Saturday would certainly further cement their title credentials.

Evan Ferguson will be hoping to play a big role in the fixture, with his performances in recent times meriting another start. A win would also move his side seven points ahead of the Turin club in the top four race.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm Irish time on Saturday evening.
