Planet Fitness has officially opened in Somerdale’s CooperTowne Shopping Center.

I stopped in today to check out the new location for the popular gym, which is packed with brand-new equipment, locker rooms, and the Black Card Spa area. The new facility offers a judgment-free workout environment for everyone.

The CooperTowne Shopping Center is located on the White Horse Pike at Evesham Road and is home to Cinemark, Walmart and Jalsa Indian Kitchen. Planet Fitness takes over a unit located between Dollar Tree and the Cinemark Movies. Nova Adventure Park also opened recently, which took over the space of the former ESporta (LA Fitness) which closed in 2024.

For the new Planet Fitness is seems there is an optical illusion at play here—while the front entrance looks moderately sized from the outside, the interior opens up wide and extends deep, creating a surprisingly larger workout space than what you would think from the outside.

If you’re interested in joining this Planet Fitness you can’t simply do a “drive by”! Park the car and walk in to chat with the awesome staff for a full tour.

The all-new gym features the latest Planet Fitness equipment and technology, including treadmills, circuit training machines, free weights, and their signature PF 360 area. PF 360 are provides access to non-traditional workout equipment, including the Synergy360 rig, which offers a variety of workout experiences in one integrated unit.

“No Critics, No Egos” is a core part of Planet Fitness’s marketing and represents their Judgment Free Zone® motto. The idea is simple: Planet Fitness is a gym for everyone, where you can work out comfortably without feeling intimidated by other members.

The Somerdale location’s open floor plan has a great flow to the equipment layout. Cardio machines (including treadmills), are closest to the main entrance walkway. Televisions are perfectly positioned overhead, allowing members to stay entertained with news, sports, or favorite shows while getting their heart pumping.

Beyond the cardio area is a row of strength-training machines where resistance and weight can be easily adjusted using pin systems. Along the far right wall, you’ll find the free weights area, including dumbbells, squat racks, and more. Large mirrored walls line this section, making it easy to focus on proper form.

Toward the back left of the gym is a separate alcove featuring the PF 360 equipment. Along that same left wall are the locker rooms. And then near the front entrance, members will find the PF Black Card Spa.

PF Black Card Spa

The Black Card Spa is an exclusive amenity available only to Planet Fitness Black Card members and requires an upgraded membership. While I didn’t explore every offering firsthand, according to Planet Fitness, Black Card members have access to:

  • HydroMassage® beds for wellness and muscle recovery
  • Tanning beds
  • Total Body Enhancement booths featuring UV-free red light therapy paired with vibration technology
  • Hybrid light tanning, combining red light, UV, and LED facial tanning technology
  • A Recovery Lounge offering targeted cold therapy for soreness and ergonomic comfort

Free Training and Classes Available

Certified trainers are also available to show members around the gym, provide instruction on equipment, facilitate small group sessions, and help design personalized exercise programs to meet fitness goals and maximize workouts.

Classes will also be offered but to be clear… it appears these classes are more about the workout equipment (this is not a group aerobics or step class).

Planet Fitness Somerdale makes it easy to fit in gym time, opening at 5:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and at 7:00 a.m. on weekends. During the week, the gym stays open until 10:00 p.m.
