A man in his 80s has died following a crash in Co. Clare between a pedestrian and a vehicle.

The pedestrian died from injuries as a result of a crash, which occurred in Ennis, Co. Clare at around 1pm on Monday, December 8.

At the time, the pedestrian was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of his injuries, which were life-threatening.

Gardaí, the National Ambulance Service, and Clare County Fire and Rescue units attended the scene, with a temporary road closure understood to have been in place for a short time.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on Monday, December 22.

No other injuries were reported from the crash.

Gardai are now appealing for witnesses as a statement from An Garda Siochana reads: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a collision that occurred in the Abbey Street area of Ennis, Co. Clare on Monday, December 8, 2025 at approximately 1pm.

“The collision involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a male in his 80s, was conveyed to hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

“He was pronounced deceased on Monday December 22, 2025. The Coroner was notified and a post-mortem examination has since been completed, the results of which are not being made public.

“Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Abbey Street area between 12.45pm and 1.15pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
