The Semi-Final of Druk Dra, the Bhutanese selection for the Eurovision Asia Song Contest 2025, has been held.

The Semi-Final show of the Bhutanese selection process for Eurovision Asia took place today. The results of the show were determined by 20% public voting and 80% jury voting.  Seven acts made it through to the Semi-Final stage of the competition:

  • Sangay Lhaden
  • Karma Drupchu
  • Baeyul 301
  • Tashi Choden
  • Tshering Namgay
  • Thukten Nyendra
  • Pelden Wangchuk

Three artists were eliminated in the previous rounds of the competition:

  • Kinga Rinchen
  • Tandin Phub
  • Drubi Tshompapo

On the panel that is assessing the participants are:

  • Pema Samdrup
  • Choeying Gyatsho
  • Uygen Dorji

The results of the voting were as follows (jurors + online vote):

  • Sangay Lhaden – 259 (90+92+77) + 20.09% of the vote
  • Thukten Nyendra – 258 (90+92+76) – 17.38% of the vote
  • Baeyul 301 – 243 (80+90+73) – 16.99% of the vote
  • Karma Drupchu – 173 (57+59+57) – 12.10% of the vote – Eliminated
  • Pelden Wangchuk – 168 (54+58+56) + 11.36% of the vote
  • Tshering Namgay – 166 (54+57+55) + 11.7% of the vote
  • Tashi Choden – 158 (53+54+51) +10.92% of the vote – Eliminated 

In the Grand Final, the winner will be determined by 30% online voting and 70% jury voting. The winner will compete in the Eurovision Asia Song Contest, while the second placed act will participate in the ABU TV Song Festival 2025. Voting is currently underway to determine the Bhutanese representative.

Eurovision Asia Song Contest

The contest, which was announced in March 2016, is the Asian spin-off of the 70-year-old Eurovision Song Contest, which is held annually in Europe. The launch of the competition, nearly ten years after its first announcement, has been signalled by the launch of national selections in both Bhutan and Vietnam.

According to the first episode of Drukda, the Bhutanese selection, 18 countries are set to compete in Eurovision Asia, which will be held in Mumbai, India. The European Broadcasting Union, who organise the Eurovision Song Contest and has worked with partners to develop Eurovision Asia, has not made any public announcements regarding the Eurovision Asia Song Contest.
