Will Arnett is setting the record straight — at least a little.

Nearly a decade after finalizing his divorce from Amy Poehler, the Arrested Development alum is speaking out about the public speculation that has followed their split, making it clear that most of what people think they know isn’t even close to the truth.

“People think that they know. Over the years, I’ve read so many opinions people have,” Arnett, 55, told a news outlet in an interview published Tuesday, December 23. “It’s f****** hilarious to me how much s*** is just made up and they have zero idea. It’s like, ‘Oh, you think you know what my life is?’”

Arnett and Poehler, 54, were married from 2003 until announcing their separation in 2012. Their divorce was finalized in 2016. The former couple share two sons, Archie and Abel, and have long been praised for keeping things respectful and drama-free post-split. Arnett is also dad to son Alexander, whom he welcomed with ex-girlfriend Alessandra Brawn in May 2020.

Despite going their separate ways romantically, Arnett and Poehler have remained supportive of one another professionally. Earlier this month, both stars had reason to celebrate after their respective podcasts were nominated for the Golden Globes’ Best New Podcast award. Arnett, who cohosts “Smartless” with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, revealed a glimpse into their friendly dynamic while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter.

“Congrats. Let’s party,” Poehler texted him after the nominations were announced on December 8, before jokingly adding, “I don’t have Bateman’s number, but that’s for the best.”

On the romance front, Arnett has also been making headlines for new reasons. In September, he was linked to supermodel Carolyn Murphy after the two were spotted packing on the PDA at an event during New York Fashion Week. They later made their red carpet debut in October at the premiere of Arnett’s Is This Thing On? at the BFI London Film Festival.

“I think that there’s just an ease from the moment that we started hanging out,” Arnett said in a November interview. “We have a real ease with each other, and she’s just such a generous-of-spirit person, and that’s what I love. One of the many things that I love about her.”

Meanwhile, Poehler has also quietly moved on. “The Good Hang” podcast host has been dating former New York Times Magazine editor Joel Lovell since October 2024. The pair made their official couple debut at the 2025 Oscars in March and have kept things low-key ever since, stepping out only occasionally for rare date nights.
