The son of a Catholic doctor from Belfast who joined the British Army during the Second World War remains “very proud” of his late father who “did the right thing”.

Thirty five years ago, Carl Murray (70) began chronicling the remarkable story of how his father Frank saved hundreds of lives after being held as a prisoner of war in a Japanese camp where he used Irish to outwit his captors.
