While some famous faces, such as Jennifer Aniston and Elizabeth Hurley, found new love in 2025, it wasn’t as fortunate a year for other celebrities.
A host of well-known faces split from their other halves over the past 12 months, including some of our favourite Irish personalities.
We’ve taken a look back at a year filled with heartache for a select few, including Patrick Kielty, Nicole Kidman, and Amy Schumer. Here are the celebrity couples who bid each other farewell in 2025:

It was July 2025 when Cat and Patrick announced their split in a joint statement. At the time, the estranged couple, who share two sons, Milo, nine, and James, seven, made clear that ‘no other party’ was involved.
Thus, speculation has run wild as to the reason behind their marriage split. After that, it was reported that Cat was feeling ‘anxious’ that she was being painted as the villain.
A source told the Daily Mail: ‘Cat feels anxious ahead of her first day back [on TV] after announcing the bombshell news of her split during her break. She has been hurt that people who don’t even know her have judged her for not going to her mother-in-law’s funeral in March.
‘Even people from within Patrick’s family and inner circle who don’t know her well have criticised her for that.’

Nicole Kidman has yet to encounter a difficult situation she can’t face head-on, and her divorce from her husband of 19 years, Keith Urban, seems to be no different.
Their split was revealed at the end of September 2025, and the Australian actress won out when it came to the custody agreement she and her estranged ex have in place regarding their teenage daughters, Sunday Rose and Margaret Faith.
It’s believed Keith has already moved on with 25-year-old country musician, Maggie Baugh, although Maggie’s pal has slammed the rumours.

After his split from Dakota, Chris was spotted on multiple dates with Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, who is the ex-wife of Joe Jonas.

In July 2025, it was reported that Morah Ryan had split from her longtime love, Don Mescall. They were together for six years.
Limerick songwriter Don said that one of the reasons for the break-up was that they had ‘drifted apart’, but said that Morah will ‘always be special’ to him.
In a statement to the Sunday World, Don confirmed the amicable split, saying: ‘It’s sad when two people drift apart. I guess Morah and I were on different trajectories at this stage of life. We had some great adventures, and they will make great memories. She will always be special to me.’
Morah found love again with Don ten years after the passing of her first husband, the much-loved RTÉ broadcaster Gerry Ryan.

The couple, who share three kids, said they were living separately as they navigate their ‘painful situation’. Jessica, who is a mum to Maxwell, Ace Knute, and Birdie-Mae, told PEOPLE: ‘Eric and I have been living separately, navigating a painful situation in our marriage.’
The mum-of-three emphasised that their children ‘come first’ and after a decade of marriage are ‘focusing on what is best for them’.
Describing how ‘grateful’ she and her ex-partner have been for ‘all the love and support’ that is being sent their way, she added that they would ‘appreciate privacy right now’ as they ‘work through this as a family’.

The couple had been married for over 16 years after first meeting on the set of Fantastic Four in 2004 and share three children, daughters Honour and Haven, and son, Hayes.
‘I’ve been on a journey of self-realisation and transformation for years – both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,’ she wrote in a statement. ‘I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years, and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.
‘We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and request privacy at this time.’

Amy Schumer announced her split from her husband of seven years, Chris Fischer, in December 2025.
The comedian insisted there’s no love lost between them, and, in typical Amy Schumer fashion, leaned on her sense of humour to break the news to her fans.
‘Blah blah blah… Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after seven years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time,’ she continued.
‘Blah blah blah… not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket, and not because he’s a hot James Beard award-winning chef who can still pull some hot tail,’ she jested. ‘Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.’

The former couple, who tied the knot in 2015, ‘have managed to transition to a beautiful friendship’, and they’ll continue to co-parent their sons, Sam and Ted, amicably.
She shared that the next chapter of their lives will see her move out of their family home, and both will explore future relationships.
