Dentures, diamonds, and musical instruments also made the list of items we commonly forget

Did you happen to leave your concertina in the back of a taxi in 2025? Or perhaps it was your dentures or your banjo?
These are just some of the unusual items listed as having been mislaid in the Freenow by Lyft taxi service this year – as well as graduation scrolls and a Cork flag.
The taxi app has today revealed that Irish passengers forgot a total of over 4,600 items in Freenow taxis over the past 12 months, making us Europe’s most distracted country.
Overall 30pc of all items lost across Europe were lost in Ireland, closely followed by Germany (17pc), Spain (16pc), Greece (15pc) and the UK (9pc) who all ranked in the top five most forgetful countries.
Unsurprisingly, mobile phones accounted for over 31pc of those left behind, with a tally of almost 1,500.
Mobile phones were not-so-closely-followed by bags, keys, wallets and purses.
Believe it or not, in very Cinderella-esque fashion, there were 42 pairs of shoes left behind in Irish taxis in 2025 – more than the number of vapes, which came in at just 40 – the priorities of the people of Ireland are very much intact.
There was a musical theme to many of the items forgotten in taxis with items left behind in 2025 including a banjo, a concertina, a guitar and drum sticks.
104 pieces of jewellery also made the list of commonly forgotten items, with a number of engagement and wedding rings left behind during 2025 – we’ll say no more.
A spokesperson for the taxi app said; “December is the busiest time for lost property requests, with passengers seemingly more forgetful over the festive period.”
As we approach New Year’s Eve they’re encouraging their passengers “to take an extra moment to check the back seat and ensure nothing is left behind in the taxi,” and that “any lost property can be directly reported through its app.”
