Over the last decade, Bonnie Ryan has made a name for herself in the media industry that would make her late dad Gerry proud, and now she and her husband John are expecting their first child
Opening up in the past about fertility struggles, husband John has been there by her side every step of the way.
Although they keep their marriage and relationship fairly private, with Bonnie never sharing her beau’s face online, here’s what we do know about their love story…

Bonnie and John are childhood sweethearts
Bonnie and John first met all the way back in their schoolyard days, when Bonnie was just 11. She told EVOKE: ‘We actually had our first date at my parents’ house when I was 15.
‘I had met him when I was 11, and I just knew, the minute I had met him, that I was in love. He was in the boys’ school and I was in the girls’ school.
‘I could see him over the wall. He is the one and only person I have ever been in love with.’ How adorable!
Popping the question

After being together for over 11 years, John got down on one knee in NYC and popped the question to Bonnie in 2019. The pair later celebrated with their loved ones at the Clarence Hotel.
The couple recently celebrated the five-year anniversary since the momentous occasion and sweetly, the couple now live in the city where John proposed.

To mark their engagement anniversary, the pair enjoyed a romantic date night with dinner and a show.
Bonnie has even added a special ode to her husband in her new collection with Crystal and Co, telling EVOKE that the stone shapes in the collection’s ring were influenced by her own engagement rings.
Wedding Bells

Two years after John asked Bonnie to marry him, the couple tied the knot in a legal ceremony in their hometown of Dublin.
Bonnie said I Do wearing a stunning white suit by influencer favourite designer Nadine Merabi and completed the look with a hat from Irish milliner Carol Kennelly.
The laid-back ceremony ended in style with the wedding party celebrating in the Ivy, with Bonnie later sharing unreleased pics from the night.
The couple later hosted an all-out celebration in Italy ad wed in St Augustine’s Church in La Machi. Surrounded by their nearest and dearest, John and Bonnie’s storybook wedding looked like a dream.

Bonnie’s wedding dress was what bridal dreams are made of, with a full-length train and detachable sleeves, to avoid that stuffy Italian heat.
The gown had lace appliques dotted all over it, with a mermaid fit to the bottom of the dress. Later on in the celebrations, Bonnie changed into a sleek silk dress, a better option to dance the night away in!

The makeup artist kept her glam soft and embellished her ears with stunning statement earrings.
From the Emerald Isle to the States

Soon after their wedding, Bonnie and John uprooted and moved to the States. In 2023, the pair started afresh in San Francisco, but soon moved east to the bright lights of New York City.
Speaking to RSVP about the move at the time, she said: ‘That was down to me. I absolutely loved California, it was gorgeous, but New York was calling my soul.’
The couple now split their time between Dublin and New York, with Bonnie acknowledging that she feels very lucky to do so.
Keeping their private lives private

Bonnie has always chosen to keep John out of the limelight with her job, but she has noticed that as she has gained more of a following, it has turned into a bigger deal.
She explained in the same RSVP interview: ‘This was never meant to be a big deal. I just created my Instagram account for my work, and as it grew, I started to show inside my life, and people wanted to see all of my life.’
With the couple having just celebrated their third wedding anniversary, it seems these two childhood sweethearts are madly in love, on and off the screen!

Baby Joy!
Just as 2026 was days away, Bonnie revealed that she and her husband John, were finally expecting their first child.
Bonnie has been very open about her fertility journey, discussing the heartbreak she suffered after finding out she can’t get pregnant ‘herself.’
The 33-year-old revealed in the past that she struggled to even open up about the topic to her family, and that often, many people assumed she didn’t want to have children, which was anything but the truth.

With an array of different pictures holding her bump, she wrote, ‘Looks like we made it. We’ve waited for this moment, and finally here we are and, halfway cooked!’
Beaming with happiness, she said ‘So much love, gratitude and excitement for what’s to come. Sending love and luck to anyone on a TTC journey.’
