Coronation Street’s Carl Webster will be caught out again this week, as another one of his dark secrets is uncovered. But will the silver-tongued devil be able to talk his way out of trouble?
Charming Carl has been spinning a huge web of lies ever since his arrival on the cobbles. Drowning in debt, Carl has sunk to extreme lows in order to make some quick cash, including faking MOTs and stealing cars from his brother’s garage.
Most recently, Carl has been manipulating his sister Debbie into giving him access to her hotel business accounts by convincing her that her dementia symptoms are worsening. After gaining access to the accounts, he has been transferring large amounts of money over to himself.
But could he have been flying too close to the sun?
In scenes that will air on Wednesday (31 December), Carl is still grief-stricken by the shocking death of his estranged mum. He decides that that he wants to go see her body to say a final goodbye, and Debbie’s fiancé Ronnie Bailey offers to go with him.

While Carl is preoccupied, Debbie’s right-hand man Ryan Connor manages things at the hotel. He receives a call chasing up an unpaid invoice and tries to resolve the issue.
However, when Ryan is denied to access the accounts, he realises that Carl has suspiciously changed the passwords. Will he confront Carl over his shady actions? And will Debbie discover the extent of his betrayal?
Elsewhere, the walls continue to close in on Carl from all angles, as his shocking affair was recently uncovered by Abi.

After embarking on an official relationship with his brother’s wife, Carl quickly became bored of the domestic life and reignited his fling with James Bailey. The pair have been sneaking around behind Abi’s back, even hooking up in their new flat.
In last week’s episodes, an already suspicious Abi decided to check Carl’s phone while he was sleeping. She was horrified to find flirty messages between him and James, confirming their secret affair – but chose not to expose him there and then.
