It comes after Bonnie shared she had been struggling to conceive earlier this year.
In a candid conversation with sister Lottie on their podcast, Bonnie opened up about her and husband John’s struggles to start a family and insensitive comments people make.
Speaking on her their podcast No One Else Will Listen, Bonnie recalled how tough it is to hear people assumed she and husband John don’t want children.
She then revealed that last year she found out she can’t get pregnant herself and never expected to be told that.
“I didn’t plan on talking about this in the podcast last week,” Bonnie admitted.
“But once the conversation started, it just… happened. It was honest and it was real”.
Since the episode aired, both she and Lottie have been inundated with messages from women sharing their own experiences and struggles.
“A lot of people who I know have opened up to me to let me know they’re going through the same fertility journey,” Bonnie explained.
“I am absolutely floored by how trusting people have been with me in my DM’s, telling me their personal stories.
“I couldn’t have wanted a better reaction. Hopefully, it makes people feel less alone.”
“When I shared it with our immediate family earlier this year, I took so much good from it. It was so good to have such support,” she says.
“But there is the flip side…there is a bit of stress from knowing our family is worried about me.”
Opening up publicly, however, came with a different kind of vulnerability and a surprising sense of relief.
“It’s nerve-racking opening up to a wider circle of people,” she admitted.
“There is something really scary about sharing my fertility journey. But I feel the biggest sense of relief since opening up about it.”
