An Post have confirmed the date when normal postal services will resume after the New Year, with households advised to take note of the key delivery dates and the branch hours for their local office.
Right now, postal services are in full swing following a brief break for Christmas, but they’re set to shut down again for a few days to accommodate the new year.
On New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, there will be no deliveries. Any customers awaiting parcels are advised to use the An Post App to track their items, which is the quickest way to check on their status. Standard delivery services will resume following the festive bank holiday:

Standard delivery services will resume following the Christmas bank holidays:
- Tuesday 30 – Wednesday 31 December: Full national delivery service in operation.
- Thursday 1 January (New Year’s Day): No deliveries.
- Friday 2 January: Full national delivery service commences.
Post Offices across the country closed on Christmas Day and reopened on December 29. Post Offices will be closed for the New Year’s break from Wednesday, 31. They reopen on January 2

- Post Offices reopened for full service on Monday and Tuesday, December 29-30
- Wednesday 31 December (New Year’s Eve): Post Offices will be closed for the New Year’s break.
- Friday 2 January: Post Offices reopen for full service.
An Post announced that after Christmas, Santa Claus has posted his replies to more than 130,000 children in Ireland who wrote to him. An Post employees, Postmasters and their helpers got Santa’s replies safely into the post over the last week.
