A male pedestrian (40s) has died after a road crash in Co Kildare this evening.

The incident occurred at around 6pm on the R445 Monasterevin Road outside of Kildare Town.

The man’s body remains at the scene while forensic collision investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene.

The road between Monasterevin and Kildare Town is currently closed, and local diversions are in place.

“Gardaí and emergency services are currently in attendance at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the R445 in Co. Kildare, Tuesday 30th December 2025,” a garda spokesperson said.

“The collision involved a car and a pedestrian and occurred at approximately 6pm on the R445 -Monasterevin Road, leaving Kildare Town in the direction of Monasterevin.

“The pedestrian, a man aged in his 40s, has been pronounced deceased and his body remains at the scene.

“No other injuries have been reported.”

Gardaí are also asking people who may have witnessed the accident to come forward with information, as well as any possible dash-cam footage.
