Emmerdale fans think they’ve “confirmed” the mystery body in Corriedale after Ray Walters was given a horrific task by Celia Daniels.
It’s almost the end of another drama-filled year in Emmerdale, but that doesn’t mean that the Yorkshire-based soap doesn’t have more to give when it comes to fireworks in the New Year.
For the first time ever, the worlds of Emmerdale and Coronation Street will collide for an hour-long crossover episode that has been named Corriedale. It’s a one-off for the ITV soaps and has been dubbed “life changing” for the forty characters involved.
This is to celebrate the new “soap power hour” as ITV change their soap schedule to both Corrie and Emmerdale airing every weeknight for 30 minutes each, with no hour-long episodes.
On Monday January 5, the drama will kick off and ITV have teased: “As a beautiful day begins in the village of Emmerdale, a tranquil scene quickly turns ominous with the sudden appearance of a lifeless body being dragged away by an unseen assailant.”
Fans have been trying to figure out who the mystery body could be, and some are convinced that it could be Celia Daniels after her reign of terror in the village over the last few months.
Celia arrived in the Dales earlier this year, and soon struck up a deal with Moira Dingle over some farmland. However, all was not as it seemed when viewers learned that Ray Walters who had groomed April and Dylan into selling drugs, was actually Celia’s adopted son – and she was the big boss the teenagers were indebted to.
Things escalated when it was revealed that she had been running a modern slavery empire, and vulnerable people were being worked to the bone on the farm. Sadly, Bear Wolf has been caught up in the cruel world and has yet to be saved.
April eventually spilled the beans to Marlon and Rhona, but as they try to navigate a life in danger of consequences from Ray and Celia, they’re yet to figure out what else the pair have been up to.

During Tuesday’s (December 30) installment, Ray who has been desperate to start a new life with Laurel Thomas and away from Celia, was given a gruesome task by his mother before the credits rolled.
As the pair sat at their kitchen table, Celia said: “Such a murky business we’re in. Full of liars, thieves, charlatans. But look at me, top of our little tree. For one reason and one reason alone. I follow my gut.
“My gut tells me April is not to be trusted. She spoke to Ted (Bear Wolf) I’m sure of it. She knows too much. as does your little pet Ted. I am done with warnings, you have pulled the wool over my eyes too many times.
“You have stood up for them too many times. Time’s up. I’ll take care of Ted, you’ll take care of April. Time for them to disappear,” as she handed over a sharpened knife to a concerned Ray.
With Ray now in possession of said knife, some viewers think he could use it to end Celia’s terror once and for all. On X (formerly known as Twitter), @rednwhite99 theorised: “I’m guessing Ray kills Celia and it’s her body in the back if Caleb/Jays van that’s in the crash and Ray escapes into the night and never returns to the village”.
@adjalf1 added: “Celia has just handed Ray the knife he will use to kill Celia. Its happening” as @ladyreignfc penned: “I don’t think I’ve seen an explanation for how Ray makes it to CorrieDale so I’ll have to see it in Emmerdale this week. He’s supposed to leave emmerdale by the end of the year & Celia isn’t listed in the Corriedale cast. So he’s running from her or killed her. Maybe his van?”
