Kate Beckinsale shared an emotional video addressing her recent weight loss.
“As we end 2025, which was a really, really hard year, it was also the last year that my incredible mom was on this planet. So I feel really torn about letting go of it, as well,” the 52-year-old said in a video shared to Instagram on Wednesday, December 31. “I just wanted to address the fact that I lost my stepfather a couple years ago, and I’d already watched my father die cause my mom was in hospital and it was just me. At the age of 5, I watched my 31-year-old father die of a huge heart attack, and then I watched my stepfather die, and then I watched my mother degenerate and die.”

She continued, “And I will say, It doesn’t make me feel very hungry. I don’t know if there’s some kind of survivor’s guilt cause it started after my stepdad died.”
According to the Serendipity actress, her lack of appetite is “not like anorexia,” but rather as if her “body has closed down.”

“I think it’s shock and trauma,” she explained before slamming critics for leaving “nasty” comments about her appearance while she is “transparently suffering.” “People respond in different ways, obviously.”
“For all the people who are inconvenienced by me being too thin, too anything or not what they expect me to be like, I really really wish you had parents like I had,” Beckinsale concluded. “I absolutely refuse to become like you.”
