The Traitors UK is coming back tomorrow for its fourth season tomorrow, while one of the standout stars from the show’s very first run will also be back on our screens in a long-running soap very soon.

All the way back in season 1, contestant Maddy Smedley famously cracked under the pressure and dramatically revealed her big secret: not that she was a Traitor, but that she was a budding actor who played a homeless person in EastEnders, and a woman without a womb in Casualty.

Since then, she played the talent agent Faye Fuller (do you get the pun?) on Hollyoaks, but now she’s coming back to Casualty.

On social media, Maddy wrote that: “Every 18 months you can play a new injured person on Casualty. This time I’m playing a woman who had melanoma. So on 10 January I’m back on @BBCCasualty! See you then at 8.45pm.

“LOVE working on the show, always the best creative team – and cheers for keeping me employed!”

She also shared the official synopsis for the episode, which titled ‘Learning Curve’ and is the first of 12 instalments of this new batch.

“It’s the hottest day of the year, and the ED’s two new resident doctors are put to the test,” the synopsis reads.

“Dylan is spooked by his past, while Nicole is reminded of Ngozi.”

One fan joked that it would be funny if Maddy just played the same character every time, and just kept turning up the hospital with a new issue every time.

“Now that would be iconic,” she agreed.

Looking ahead to The Traitors season 4, Claudia Winkleman teased that there is “something new” for fans to expect.

“What happens in this series is truly extraordinary with moments that made me gasp,” she said.

The Traitors season 4 begins on 1 January, while Casualty returns on 10 January, both on BBC One and on iPlayer.
