The Woodenbridge Hotel and Lodge recently released its annual ‘Hotel Wrapped’ figures on social media, offering an insight into the scale of operations at the historic south Wicklow establishment, which dates back to 1608.
According to the hotel, 30,187 guests stayed over the course of the year, while a total of 121,387 meals were served at its bar, The Bistro, Redmond restaurant and The Smokehouse.
Turkey and ham once again proved the most popular choice, with 6,028 portions served. The dish is accompanied by mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and red wine jus, and has long been a staple on the hotel’s menu.
Fish and chips ranked second, with 5,874 servings sold during the year. The hotel uses fresh fish delivered daily from Kilmore Quay, served with homemade tartar sauce, fries and a choice of salad or mushy peas, and cooked either pan-fried or in breadcrumbs.
The hotel also served 4,086 8oz sirloin steaks, prepared using grass-fed Irish Hereford beef and cooked to order over a hot flame, with mushrooms, onions and a choice of pepper sauce or garlic butter.
That was followed by 3,768 sirloin beef burgers, served on a brioche bun with gherkin, cheddar cheese, lettuce and caramelised red onion, while 3,456 chocolate brownies — offered hot or cold with cream or ice-cream — completed the top five.
Combined, the hotel’s five most popular dishes accounted for 23,212 orders over the course of the year.
The figures were shared by the hotel as part of its end-of-year ‘Wrapped’ post, offering a retrospective look at guest numbers and dining trends across 2025.
In the post, a hotel spokesperson wrote: “From welcoming 30,187 guests to serving over 121,387 meals, 2025 was filled with unforgettable stays, smiling faces, and plenty of delicious moments.
“A heartfelt thank you to every guest who stayed, dined, celebrated, and created memories with us this year. Here’s to another year of warm welcomes, great food, and Woodenbridge charm.”
A busy 2025 has also included industry recognition, with the hotel recently confirmed as a finalist in the 2025 Gold Medal Awards, shortlisted once again in the Best Three-Star Hotel category, while also receiving its first-ever nomination in the Ireland’s Best Family Run Hotel category.
Announcing the news on social media, the hotel spokesperson said the team is “thrilled to announce” its selection as a finalist, describing the nominations as “a testament to the hard work and dedication of our amazing team”.
“We couldn’t be prouder to see their efforts recognised once again,” they said.
The nomination follows back-to-back wins in the Ireland’s Favourite Place to Stay (Leinster) category in recent years.
“The last two years, we were honoured to win Ireland’s Favourite Place to Stay (Leinster), and we’d love to keep that title this year,” the spokesperson added.
To support the Woodenbridge Hotel in the 2025 Gold Medal Awards voting, forms are available through its social media channels. Voting is open until January 23.
