Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Ifeanyi Ndukwe, with GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano giving the move the ‘Here we go’ treatment on Friday evening.
The 17-year-old defender will complete his move to Anfield from July 2026, after Reds deal-makers reached an agreement with Austria Wien over a move that comes into place in the summer.
It is Liverpool‘s first agreement of the January transfer window, with the Merseyside club also being linked with moves for a more senior centre-back as well as a forward after links with Manchester City-bound Antoine Semenyo.
Liverpool Sign ‘Huge Talent’ Ndukwe

The Athletic’s James Pearce reported earlier on Friday evening that Liverpool were in talks over a deal for the 6 ft 5 teenager, but Romano has now posted on X that an agreement is in place between the two clubs.
According to the Italian journalist, the young Austrian has ‘said yes’ to the Anfield project, with the 17-year-old seen as one of the biggest young talents in Europe.
Ndukwe One for the Future

Virgil van Dijk
While centre-back is one position that Liverpool look to need strengthening in, it’s likely that Ndukwe will be seen as a player for the future when he does arrive at Anfield in the summer.
As things stand, the Reds have little depth beyond captain Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, with Joe Gomez and Geovanni Leoni both suffering from injury.
Konate’s contract is also due to expire at the end of this season and with no agreement close between the parties, the position is a critical one ahead of next season.
Reports have suggested that Liverpool are on the verge of a deal for Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez with the club ready to pay him a ‘fortune’, but sources in England suggest a transfer isn’t as close as is being suggested.
What Other January Business Could Liverpool do?

Liverpool came close to signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in the summer, but it remains to be seen whether they will make a move this month or wait until he’s available on a free transfer in the summer.
The Reds had held talks about signing Semenyo too in recent weeks, so a new forward could be on the agenda too, with interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande also being reported.
