The Brave and The Bold will finally bring a new take on Batman in James Gunn’s DC Universe, with the reboot set to focus on Bruce Wayne and an established Bat-Family already operating. But with numerous heroes in Batman’s mythology already existing in this franchise, it also means several of his super-villains are around at this point.
One of the famous foes of The Dark Knight that many are excited to see through Gunn’s DCU is the Joker, and a popular fan-casting for the DC villain is Stranger Things’ Jamie Campbell Bower, who played Henry Creel/Vecna in the Netflix drama. @JohnKRegan shared new artwork of what the British star could look like as Joker in the DCU, with another fan-favorite actor as his Batman. Check it out below:
For the Caped Crusader in The Brave and The Bold movie, Brandon Sklenar is suited up as Batman in the artwork, as he has been one of many Hollywood stars to share how he would love to play the DC icon in Gunn’s franchise. As he has expressed his interest, many audience members have gotten behind him taking on the major superhero role.
While Bower hasn’t joined the DCU yet, the actor has been on the record to say that he would want to take part in the franchise. Back in 2023, the star shared with the Geek House Show how there is another Batman foe he would be down to play, sharing the following:
Jamie Campbell Bower: There’s been a lot of chatter about Scarecrow recently, that would be cool. To do that, that would be fun. Very spooky, that would be great!
While DC Studios hasn’t announced formal plans yet for Joker in the new reboot, the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” has already begun to explore various Batman villains from the comics. However, one project in particular will be putting one of his enemies in the spotlight.
Set to release on September 11 this year, the R-rated Clayface horror movie will bring Matt Hagen into the DCU, with Tom Rhys Harries portraying the titular role. It will also give a bigger taste of this world’s Gotham City before The Brave and The Bold.
In fact, Joker has been alluded to through Clayface set photos, with the Clown Prince of Crime seemingly already active at this point in the DCU. With the Joker details that have emerged so far through the R-rated installment, the September release may offer more clues.
DC Studios hasn’t set a release date for The Brave and the Bold, which will be directed by Andy Muschietti, while the script is currently being written.
