The body of a man was found on a beach on St Stephen’s Day

The body of a man found on a Co Down beach on St Stephen’s Day has now been identified. Bryn Williams was last seen in Groomsport on December 6, with police issuing a missing person appeal in the following days alongside a search operation.
This involved the police local district, Criminal Investigation Division, Tactical Support Group, Police Search and Rescue, Air Support, Dogs Section, Body Recovery Team, ANPR, Economic Crime and Technical Support Units.
On December 26, the body of a man was found on a beach near Orlock Point with police saying this has now been identified as Mr Williams, who is from Groomsport.

Police Search Advisor Sergeant Brown said: “All involved worked tirelessly right up to Boxing Day morning in an effort to find Bryn and bring him home to his family. Our thoughts are with the Williams family at this very sad time.”
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Campbell added: “The search for Bryn was an extensive operation and I would like to extend my gratitude to all agencies involved and members of the public for their assistance throughout the investigation. Our thoughts remain firmly with the family and friends of Bryn.”
Bryn Williams’ wife, Nicola, said on behalf of the family: “We would like to pass on our sincerest gratitude to all involved in the search for Bryn over the last three weeks, including the police, voluntary search services and the public for all their work and support.”
