Samsung has shared the details for its January 2026 security update for Galaxy devices. This month’s security release addresses more One UI vulnerabilities than Android OS flaws. In total, it fixes 55 security issues across the Galaxy family, with the severity varying from moderate to critical.

What does Samsung’s January 2026 security update bring?

Every month, Samsung rolls out new security fixes to Galaxy devices. These updates bundle the latest Android OS patches from Google alongside One UI fixes from Samsung and its partners. The January 2026 security update contains 55 patches, including 21 Android fixes, 4 Samsung Semiconductor fixes, and 30 Samsung One UI fixes.

Four of the 21 patches from Google are labeled “critical,” potentially allowing attackers to gain remote access into affected devices. The other 17 are high-severity patches. Samsung Semiconductor, meanwhile, addressed security flaws affecting various Exynos chips, many of which are found in Galaxy devices.

Coming to Samsung One UI patches, the company fixed issues across several system apps, services, and components. As a typical precautionary measure, Samsung hasn’t detailed all patches, particularly the more severe ones. This allows affected users to install the fixes before attackers devise an exploit for the vulnerability.

Samsung has already rolled out the January 2026 security update to Galaxy S25 users participating in One UI 8.5 Beta. These security fixes should soon make it to Galaxy S25 units on One UI 8, as well as other Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The company will gradually push them to all eligible models in the coming weeks.

Galaxy users can check for updates from Settings > Software update > Download and install. If an update shows up, hit Update to proceed. You need to restart your device to complete the installation process. The Galaxy S25 series and select other models support seamless updates, reducing the total downtime. But most Galaxy users must sit out through the entire duration.
