Matt Damon lived his own epic odyssey.

The Oscar winner revealed that he shed almost 40 pounds to portray the character of Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey after the director requested Matt be “lean, but strong.”

“I was in really good shape,” Matt, 55, shared with Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce on their New Heights podcast Jan. 7. “I lost a lot of weight.”

“It’s a weird thing,” he added, joking with the football pros, “I don’t wanna bore the s–t out of you.”

To which Jason responded, “None of this is boring at all.”

As for what Matt did to help him get, as Jason quipped, “yolked,” it included not only spending a whole lot of time in the gym, but also making one major change to his diet.

“Because of this other thing I did with my doctor, [I] stopped eating gluten,” he explained. “I used to walk around at between 185 and 200, and I did that whole movie at 167.”
