A weather warning issued for Donegal on Sunday afternoon has been extended.

Met Éireann are warning that conditions are expected to be very windy, with strong and gusty southwest winds.

Potential impacts and threats include some wave overtopping in coastal areas, loose objects being displaced, the potential for fallen trees and branches and difficult travelling conditions on the roads.

The warning will come into effect at 4pm on Sunday afternoon, and has now been extended until midnight that night.

It is also in effect in ten other counties, including: Clare, Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Wexford and Wicklow.

Drivers are still being urged to be cautious on the roads this Saturday evening, as black ice is still present on many roads, including most minor and untreated routes.

However, temperatures are set to rise compared to previous days according to the national weather forecaster.

Overnight lows will be between 2 and 5 degrees overnight tonight, with highs reaching between 9 and 12 degrees tomorrow.
